The Sitges Half Marathon takes place this Sunday the 11th of January at 10am and leaves from Psg de La Ribera. The event is well attended and marks the first in series of sporting events taking place in Sitges in 2009.
The Three Kings Parade took place on Monday with most of Spain celebrating their Second Christmas on Tuesday.
It was a Disney-esque type affair with men on horseback, princesses, giant mice and amazing costumes… putting everyone in the mood for Carnival 09.
Despite the cold temperatures, the crowds were larger than previous years, as Sitgeans decided to celebrate in style and kicked off a great start to the 2009 party scene.
As always, Gay Sitges Guide will bring you the very best of what Sitges has to offer throughout the year..

In Spain, Epiphany day is called El Día de los Reyes (The Day of the Kings), i.e., the day when a group of Kings or Magi, as related in the second chapter of the gospel of Matthew, arrived to worship and bring three gifts to the baby Jesus after following a star in the heavens. This day is sometimes known as the Día de los Tres Reyes Magos (The day of the Three Royal Magi) In Spanish tradition, on the day of January 6, three of the Kings: Melchor, Gaspar, and Balthazar, representing Europe, Arabia, and Africa, arrived on horse, camel and elephant, bringing respectively gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus.
