Sitges Film Festival 2013 – What not to miss!

Sitges Film Festival

This year the Sitges International Film Festival takes place from the 11th to the 20th of October. It is one of the largest Horror/Scifi movie festivals in the world attracting international stars, world premiers and more.

Some of the films on this year’s schedule are quite out there! However here are some of the ones we won’t be missing!

Interior: Leather Room

[vimeo 55657401 w=570&h=380]

In order to avoid an X rating, 40 minutes of gay S&M footage was rumored to be cut and destroyed from the 1980 film, “Cruising.” Inspired by the mythology of this controversial film, filmmakers James Franco and Travis Mathews collaborate to imagine their own lost footage.

Amid the backdrop of a frenzied film set actor Val Lauren reluctantly agrees to take the lead in the film. Val is repeatedly forced to negotiate his boundaries during scenes on and “off camera,” as unsimulated gay sex happens around him. The film itself is constructed as a play with boundaries remaining queer in subject and form. As much a film about filmmaking as it is about an exploration of sexual and creative freedom, “Interior. Leather Bar.” defies easy categorization.

Byzantium by Neil Jordan

Two decades after Interview with the Vampire, Neil Jordan returns to vampire movies. Two women, Clara and Eleonor, move to a hotel near the sea intending to keep the secret of their long-lived history. A history divided between two eras, and that bears the unavoidable signature of a subgenre master: romantic, gothic, seductive and bloody.
