Corpus Christi This Weekend

Corpus Christi, Sitges

This weekend sees the annual tradition of the streets of sitges turning into works of floral art. If you’ve never been to this event before, then you are in for a treat and even if you have, there is always something different as the patterns change every year.

Corpus Christi, Sitges

The main event takes place on Sunday, but work begins on Saturday night. As revellers make their way home from the bars and clubs at 6 in the morning, dedicated teams of people are putting the final petals in place, in the hopes that their street will win the Grand Prix.

Sitges Flower Festival

Each pattern is first drawn out in chalk and then painstakingly covered in individual petals. The result is truly spectacular.

Gay Tea Dance in Sitges

Gay Tea Dance

Its always good to see a new idea hit Sitges. Tea Dances on a Sunday are a regular feature across Europe, but not so in Sitges. Personally we would prefer an afternoon pool party, but on Gay DJ has taken it upon herself to takeover Coco Rico (a very Straight Club on Sin Street) and run a Gay Tea Dance every Sunday from 5.30pm.

Gay Tea Dance

It will take a while to kick off, given that Gay boys in Sitges are creatures of habit, but we think that its a good idea and is worthy of our support.

Gay Tea Dance

The bar staff are cute and you do get a very mixed crowd. Most of the “straight” boys seemed very interested in the videos playing on screen!

Gay Tea Dance

And if you don’t fancy a tea dance, well then Sunday is probably the best day of the week to go sightseeing… for cute boys. They are everywhere…and very very camera friendly.

Gay Tea Dance

Coco Rico is located at the end of Sin Street, on your way to or from the Gay Beach. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Early Morning Sitges

Early Morning Sitges

Sitges is full of surprises. Get up early and you will see some of the most amazing guys working out on the beach… running, swimming or even playing voleyball.

Early Morning Sitges

From about 8am people start heading to the beach. Its a beautiful time of the day and you can sometimes meet people still on their way home from one of the late after bars in either Sitges or Barcelona.

Early Morning Sitges

If you are an early riser, we recommend a run right through Sitges, via the main promenade.

The perfect end to the perfect day…

Don’t forget to look up!

Look Up

Whilst most of you will be staring directly ahead at that lovely Spanish guy walking in front of you, you may want to take the time to look up now and again and take in some of Sitges amazing architectural heritage. The building above, is just one example. Its the Casa Bartomeu Carbonell i Mussons and was built between 1913 and 1915. The Disneyland look is perfect for Sitges!

Another Monument to Photo!

Sitges Monument

Those of you have ever walked down the steps from the church will know what a breathtaking sight it can be as you turn at the bottom of the stairs. Now it has a new attraction in the form of 3 new statues.

Sitges Attractions

We think they will probably become the second most photographed monument in Sitges judging by the number of people taking shots of the statues last weekend.

Barcelona Firefighters Fun Run

Barcelona Firemans Run

Ok, so we might have taken a bit of poetic licence with this photo… but hey who can blame us. A cowboy and a fireman?? Anyway, on with the news! The 9th Nike Barcelona Firefighters Fun Run holds the European record for the best time in a 10 km race. On 1st April the runners will aim to beat the world record and you’ll have the opportunity to see the world’s top athletes in action. The race kicks off at 10am. For further details visit the official site.

Patchwork Fair

Patchwork Fair Sitges

Whilst not at the top of the gay scene agenda, there was something every so slightly gay about attending a Patchwork fair! But we have to be honest and say that we were amazed that you could actually create such amazing artwork with just a needle and thread and a whole lot of patience.

Patchwork Fair Sitges

These were our two favourites. Such Gay Icons! You see, even the patchwork in Sitges is interesting!
