Winter Flights Increase for Barcelona

>

Those intending to travel to Barcelona from Now until the end of March will have even more options, as many of the former

During the winter season, Barcelona Airport has seen an expansion in services on direct routes linking it to North America, Asia and Europe.

Delta Airlines, Air Transat, Turkish Airlines, SAS and Carglux have announced they will continue to operate some of the flights in the summer and will offer others with a greater frequency. The aim is to meet the demand for direct intercontinental passenger and air freight flights.

Delta Airlines, which links Barcelona with Atlanta only in the summer, will continue to operate the route between 1 November and 31 March with four weekly flights. It will also maintain six flights a week to New York.

Turkish Airlines is planning to increase the number of flights to Istanbul from four to seven, in other words, one a day.

Three Kings Festival

Three Kings Parade

While most of the world has already begun packing up the Christmas ornaments, throwing out the tree, and finding a place for all of their gifts, Catalans are continuing the celebration. January 6, Three King’s Day, is the long awaited day in which the three Kings bring their gifts. On January 5, the Three Kings parade will take place. Later, before going to bed, children leave their shoes out in a visible spot in the house or on their balcony, and go to bed hoping that when they wake up they will find gifts left by Mechior, Gaspar, and Balthasar.

For breakfast or after lunch, families often have the typical dessert of the day, the “Roscón de los Reyes”, a large ring shaped cake that is decorated with candied fruits, symbolic of the emeralds and rubies that adorned the robes of the three kings. Somewhere inside the cake there is a surprise, and the person to find it will be crowned King or Queen of the house for the remainder of the day.

The parade will leave Parc de Can Bota from 6.30pm on the 5th and make its way through the town… Watch out for the guys in horses throwing sweets!
